• The origin of teddy bear was during the early years of 20th century in Germany. 

• The name teddy bear came from former United States president Theodore Roosevelt.
  
  On 14 November 1902 when he went for hunting in Mississippi one of his companion managed to capture a bear and tied it to a tree. He asked the president to kill the bear.But he refused  to shoot the bear stating it would be unsportsmanlike to kill the poor creature. The news of the event spread across the country and it became topic of political cartoon by Clifford Berryman. 

                                    

   Morris Michtom who was the stuffed    

   animal maker saw the cartoon and 

   decided to make stuffed toy bear and 

   dedicate it to the president. He named it 

   "Teddy Bear."
